Where Am I?
Photography
While scouring these different locations around Metro Atlanta, I set to find the nostalgia in the uncanny. Why do these places feel familiar? Why does it feel like you’ve been here before? You can’t help but think you’ve visited at least one of these places.
A play on “liminal spaces”, transitional states based on where someone is going, or coming, whether it be physical, emotional or metaphorical. In this mini-project, the photos follow a young photographer with literally no where else to go.
10 DEC 24, 2230. Note: Sizable lobby hallway leading to a set of six elevators. Off center is a wet floor sign yet the marble is long dried. I’m going to check out the elevators and explore the building. Danger class: D05 JUN 21, 0455. The time is different here. Long hallway with storage units on either side. Somewhat connected to the lobby. One of the elevators leads to it. The lights don’t work here expect for the exit signs. There’s something down the hall, I don’t know what. Danger class: B
13 OCT 79, 2359. The date constantly changes with each space I explore. There feint sounds of sirens surround the area yet no emergency vehicles can be seen. You can barely hear it. Who knows how long this house has been left here alone. Had to use flash to get a closer look. Danger class: C
08 DEC 02, 1712. Finally back in December. Going back to the lobby and taking the stairs will lead you here. There’s paint tools and giant printing presses that are oddly in good condition. The paper towel has drying finger prints on the top. Someone was recently here. Maybe they know what’s going on and can help. Danger class: E
10 DEC 26, 1732. Camera says we’re in the year “2026”. I’m not sure how that’s possible. Not that I can think of it much, there’s some strange noise following behind me. I’ve been waking up and down this place for what seems like hours. There’s no exit. At all. Danger class: C
02 SEP 02, 1400. I finally found an exit from the parking garage; one of the floors has a door that leads to stairs and it brought me here. There’s not one shadow here. I’ve also seem to gone back in time again. I see a playground nearby. Maybe I can go over and see if someone can help. At least I’m no longer in the dark. Danger class: F
02 SEP, 12, 1405. I thought I heard laughter. I swear I did. There’s no one here. An empty playground is... odd. Considering there seems to be a school nearby, too. I hope there’s someone here. Forget being lost. Being alone is worse. Danger class: F
15 SEP 12, 1303. I think I checked every house. Not one person. Not a car in sight. It’s so still here. I can’t leave the neighborhood. Maybe I shouldn’t have ridden in that elevator. Every step I take sounds like several more behind me. I’ll figure something out. I have to. Danger class: -
